Breath is life – breath is Qi.
Cultivating deep abdominal breathing is the foundation for meditation and Qi Gong. In this course, we learn to regulate our breath through deep relaxation and releasing blockages.
Workshop Description
In Qi Gong, we know of three regulations: the regulation of posture (physical body), the regulation of breathing (emotional body) and the regulation of thoughts (mental body). In this course, we will deal specifically with breathing and the breathing process.
Breathing directly influences the movement of Qi in the body, as breathing and Qi are connected. Thus, regulating the breath is always a regulation of Qi.
Breath is also movement and can be used to guide and lead Qi through the body.
Since our breathing and the way we breathe also affect our nervous system, we can influence our emotions by consciously directing our breath.
We breathe as long as we live and 24 hours a day, so everything we learn about breathing permeates our daily lives and our whole life.
The type of breathing we want to cultivate is deep and relaxed abdominal breathing. We achieve this by releasing blockages, by taking tension out of the nervous system, and by specifically training the diaphragm, our respiratory muscle.
Exploring our breathing and breathing patterns is also an intimate and touching encounter with ourselves. Establishing deep, regular abdominal breathing is the basis for all meditation and Qi Gong practices.
